1. Who We Are

Out ("we", "us") is a real-time proximity-matching service. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this application. Contact: privacy@meetspont.com

2. What We Collect and Why

• First name — you provide this; used only to identify you to nearby users during a session.
• Activity vibe — your chosen activity (coffee, walk, etc.); used for matching and displayed to nearby users.
• Approximate location — your GPS coordinates, immediately fuzzed by a random ±500 m offset before any processing. We never store or transmit your precise coordinates.

We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, photos, government IDs, or any other identifying information.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We rely on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) to operate the proximity-matching feature, and on your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for processing location data, which you grant when you allow browser geolocation access. You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking location permissions in your browser settings and going offline.

4. Data Retention — Ephemeral by Design

All presence data (name, vibe, fuzzed location) is held only in active memory via Supabase Realtime. It is automatically and permanently deleted the moment you close the app, disconnect, or your session times out. There is no database of users. We retain no logs containing personal data beyond 24 hours of anonymised error telemetry.

5. Third-Party Infrastructure

We use Supabase (supabase.com) to power real-time presence channels. Supabase processes data on your behalf under a Data Processing Agreement compliant with GDPR. Supabase infrastructure is hosted on AWS (US-East-1 by default; EU regions available). No personal data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

6. Your Rights

• Access & portability — because we hold no persistent data, there is nothing to export. Sessions are anonymous and ephemeral.
• Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — going offline or closing the browser immediately erases all your data. You may also contact us to confirm no residual data exists.
• Objection / restriction — you may stop using the service at any time; no account closure is required.
• Lodge a complaint — EU/EEA residents may complain to their local supervisory authority. California residents may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA).

7. Children's Privacy

Out is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU where applicable). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the service, contact privacy@meetspont.com and we will take immediate action.

8. Security

All data is transmitted over TLS 1.2+. Location data is fuzzed client-side before transmission. We apply the principle of data minimisation — we collect only what is strictly necessary for the service to function. No passwords or sensitive credentials are stored.

9. No Liability for In-Person Interactions

Out does not verify user identities, conduct background checks, or monitor in-person meetups. We are not responsible for the conduct of any user before, during, or after a meetup arranged through the platform. Your decision to meet someone in person is made entirely at your own risk.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will post updates here. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

1. Acceptance

By using Out you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Out.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/EEA) to use Out. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors.

3. The Service

Out is a real-time, ephemeral proximity-matching tool. We do not guarantee matches, uptime, or any specific outcome. The service is provided "as is" and may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate any other user.
• Impersonate another person or provide a false identity.
• Transmit unsolicited commercial messages (spam).
• Use the service to facilitate illegal activity of any kind.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
• Circumvent safety features, blocks, or suspensions.
• Transmit content that is obscene, defamatory, or violates third-party rights.

5. Enforcement and Termination

We may suspend or block access immediately and without notice for any violation of these Terms or for conduct we reasonably determine to be harmful to users or the service. Because sessions are ephemeral, "termination" means blocking your connection.

6. Real-World Meetups — Your Responsibility

Out is a tool for finding people nearby. It is not a background-check service, a vetting service, or a safety guarantee. When you choose to meet someone in person, you do so entirely at your own risk. Out and its operators are not present at, responsible for, or liable for anything that happens during an in-person meetup arranged through this platform.

Always meet in a public place. Always tell someone where you are going. Call 911 if you feel unsafe.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT VERIFY USER IDENTITIES. WE MAKE NO REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT THE CHARACTER, INTENTIONS, OR SAFETY OF ANY USER. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

8. Limitation of Liability — No Lawsuits

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUT, ITS FOUNDER, OPERATORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY HARM, INJURY, LOSS, OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR FROM ANY IN-PERSON MEETUP ARRANGED THROUGH THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO PHYSICAL HARM, EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR ANY OTHER CONSEQUENCE.

BY USING OUT YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO BRING A CLAIM OR LAWSUIT AGAINST OUT OR ITS OPERATORS FOR ANY INCIDENT ARISING FROM USE OF THE PLATFORM. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IN ANY EVENT SHALL NOT EXCEED $0 USD.

9. Indemnification

You agree to fully indemnify and hold Out, its founder, and operators harmless from any claims, damages, lawsuits, or expenses — including legal fees — arising from your use of the service, your conduct on or off the platform, or any meetup you arrange through Out.

10. Assumption of Risk

You understand and accept that meeting strangers carries inherent risk. You voluntarily assume all such risk when using Out. Out provides safety tools and guidelines but cannot guarantee your safety. You are responsible for your own decisions and actions.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Any dispute must be resolved by binding individual arbitration and you waive any right to a jury trial or class action.

12. Changes

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

Your safety comes first

Out connects you with real people nearby. That takes common sense. Read this before you go out.

In an emergency

• Call 911 immediately if you feel threatened, unsafe, or in danger at any point. Do not wait.
• Contact a loved one. Text someone you trust where you are, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back. Do this before you leave.

Before you meet

• Tell someone. Let a friend or family member know where you're going and who you're meeting before you leave.
• Public only. First meetup must be a public place — café, park, busy street. No exceptions.
• Trust your gut. If something feels wrong in chat or in person, leave. You don't owe anyone anything.
• Keep it to your first name. No phone number, no address, no socials until you actually know the person.

In the app

• Block instantly. One tap. They disappear from your list, you disappear from theirs.
• Report abuse. Use the report button in chat. Three reports in 24 hours results in automatic removal.
• Location is fuzzed. We add a random ±500 m offset. Nobody, including us, knows exactly where you are.
• Auto-delete. Everything disappears the moment you go offline. Nothing is stored.

Out is not responsible for in-person meetups

Out is a tool for finding people nearby. What happens when you meet in person is entirely your responsibility. Always prioritize your safety, meet in public, and contact emergency services if needed.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember information about your visit. We use a minimal set of cookies strictly required to operate the service.

2. Cookies We Use

• Authentication cookie — set by Firebase when you sign in with Google. Stores your session token so you don't have to sign in again on every visit. Expires after 1 hour of inactivity or when you close the app. Strictly necessary.
• Supabase session — a short-lived token stored in localStorage (not a cookie) used to maintain your real-time presence channel while you are live. Deleted automatically when you go offline or close the browser tab. Strictly necessary.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, analytics cookies, or any third-party marketing cookies.

3. No Cookie Consent Banner Required

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have requested do not require prior consent. Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, no cookie banner is shown. If we ever introduce optional cookies we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.

4. Third-Party Services

• Firebase (Google) — handles authentication. Google may set its own cookies for sign-in. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase — handles real-time matching. Uses localStorage, not cookies. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

5. Managing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting the authentication cookie will sign you out. Common browser guides:

If we introduce new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and, where required by law, ask for your consent. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
